Kyle’s picks for 8/18/2018

Boxing on ESPN Saturday night at 10 pm ET
-Very interesting fight card Saturday on ESPN from Atlantic city. Good solid heavyweight main event with a strong undercard.
-Bryant Jennings- Alexander Dimitrenko
This is an interesting heavyweight fight. Dimitrenko is a very big heavyweight, standing 6 feet 7. Impressive record at 41-3 with 26 KO’s. Unfortunately for him though every time he has stepped up he has gotten beat. A decision loss to fringe contender Eddie Chambers and stoppage losses to top heavyweights Kubrat Pulev and Joseph Parker.
Jennings has maneuvered himself back into the heavyweight title picture with 4 straight wins since back to back losses against Wladimir Klitschko and Luis Ortiz. Undersized for a heavyweight, he makes up for it with good fundamentals and athleticism.
Prediction- I see Jennings winning and doing it fairly easily. Dimitrenko is big but he is slow and Joseph Parker blew him out and I see Jennings doing it in similar fashion although it may take an extra couple rounds.
Prediction-Jennings TKO 7

Jesse Hart-Mike Gavronski
-A good fight between top contender and former title challenger Jesse Hart and fringe contender Mike Gavronski. Hart’s only loss was a competitive decision one to world champ Gilberto Ramirez. Since then he has two KO wins against decent competition. A very big puncher who looks for the KO.
Gavronski is a solid fighter who has built up a good record fighting mostly at home in the Tacoma, Washington area. He has two losses, one a decision loss to journeyman Dashon Johnson and also a decision loss to a very good Tureano Johnson in a fight where he jumped to an early lead but faded late. He is solid but in over his head here in my opinion.
Prediction-Hart TKO 4

Christian Carto-Javier Gallo
-Carto was a top amateur out of Philly who has quickly built up a 15-0 record in the 122 pound division. The best part about his record is he has done it against real competition. Beating fighters with records like 12-1 and 14-1. He can punch but he also can box with that very good amateur background proving that.
Gallo is another tough good opponent, the kind of guy a top prospect like Carto should beat but it probably won’t come very easy. Even though he has 15 losses, most of them are by decision against very good fighters. A win against a 35-3 fighter recently shows he is a live underdog.
Caro very possibly is a future world champ thought so he should come out on top.
Prediction- Carto by unanimous decision.
